New Tulip Symbol for Parkinson's
Jean Burns of Arizona and Sheryl Jedlinski of Chicago have started a grassroots campaign that is catching on world wide. The campaign promotes the universal use of a single symbol to represent Parkinson’s disease patients. The red tulip with leaves that fold into “PD” was created by Karen Painter, a young onset Parkinson’s patient, and has been very well received across the country. The logo represents all individuals who have Parkinson’s disease, not any one organization.

The Board of Directors has voted to adopt the Red Tulip as the symbol for Parkinson’s Disease. This symbol is being adopted nationwide, in Canada, and in other countries across the globe.

Gayle Kirby was instrumental in designing a Red Tulip pin specifically for DAPS. Pins with the Tulip and the DAPS name have been produced and are available for $5 at the DAPS office; call Ann Staton at 972-620-7600 to order.

Thanks to Gayle Kirby and Barb Taylor for their work on this project!
